What Is The Difference Between Wheat Free and Gluten Free Diets?

Image
The words 'gluten-free' and 'wheat-free are often used interchangeably, which is one of the major causes of confusion when you finally find out they are not the same thing. Both foods are on the rise as we begin to see new sensitivities to mass-produced foods rise, and it is not uncommon to see gluten-free and wheat options on the menus of many restaurants or shelves at the grocery store. About 15% of the population does not tolerate gluten or wheat in North America. It is also seen as the same type of food that prides itself on being gluten-free or whole wheat: usually flour-based products. In both cases, the symptoms appear to be the same. Whether wheat or gluten is not naturally healthy or harmful to the human body as a rule. However, like other allergies and allergies, wheat and gluten both can cause adverse reactions, but their effects vary depending on each person's immune system and strength. People usually eat gluten-free and gluten-free foods at any level they...

Living Gluten Free - Where to Start

Image
A gluten-free diet is not a fashionable diet, it is not a weight loss diet, it is not a "healthy diet" and it is not a detox diet, no matter what Oprah says. You do not choose to be celiac or gluten intolerant. People with celiac disease or gluten intolerance cannot eat gluten without having serious health problems. For some people, gluten is a neutral substance. You hear about gluten-free diets everywhere - why? More and more people every day find that they have this problem, because at least 90% of the digested food - the foods we all eat every day - contains gluten. Natural foods are gluten-free from everything, just like processed foods. Gluten is added during processing for many different reasons, including taste. This means that, even if you avoid bread, cake, pizza, pasta, and other obvious sources of gluten, you will probably still get a lot of gluten in your diet. eating without realizing it. So it is often the case that people who follow a gluten-free diet should ...

Eating Gluten Free,Its Lifestyle Change

Image
Everywhere I go these days I seem to be constantly feeling and learning that if I want to recover or just feel better I need to remove gluten from my diet. This has proved to be a much bigger task than I ever imagined. And to my surprise, I did not know that I was a complete gluten addict. Lack of gluten is not just a diet change, it is a complete lifestyle change! A few years ago my General Health Care Doctor found me as a gluten-sensitive person and told me to eat cereals. Although I changed my diet and ate more grains, natural sugars, fruits, and more vegetables, I did not take all that seriously. But when I do research on my recent diagnosis, the Pathologic Detoxifier, I find that a gluten-free diet is part of the protocol for improvement. So far I have found that to be truly gluten-free means I can no longer eat at my favorite Chinese restaurant, soy sauce is in everything. Sushi may be good but there is no teriyaki and I am not sure what to add to the Pad Thai soup or sauce. Then...

Eating Gluten-Free Can Relieve Symptoms of Celiac Disease

Image
May is Celiac Awareness Month and a great time for me to share some information on the best treatment for celiac disease. There is no pharmaceutical treatment or cure for celiac disease, but there are ways to manage the symptoms and repair intestinal damage. Possible treatment in the form of a preventative vaccine is in trials now. However, the best treatment is a lifelong commitment to eating a strict gluten-free diet plan, supplemented with vitamins and minerals. Not all people who react negatively to gluten actually have celiac disease. But, the symptoms of gluten sensitivity are similar to those of celiac disease. I suffered from complications of gluten intolerance for almost 20 years. Although I improved my diet to include more fresh foods and a lot less processed foods, I still consumed gluten. It was only when I realized the enormous negative effects that gluten had on my body, did I began to follow a strict gluten-free diet plan. The road here was hard, to say the least, but no...

Athletes Going Gluten Free - Is There a Performance Benefit?

Image
1- Athletes were not yet diagnosed, but had celiac disease. Celiac statistics, and undiagnosed numbers, always surprise me. About 1% of people are estimated to have celiac disease. Here is the kicker-95% of those who are unknown. It is very likely that some of these athletes were walking with celiac disease and were unaware of it. Put yourself on a gluten-free diet and all sorts of magic happen. We'll talk a little bit about magic. 2- Athletes were gluten sensitive. This is a small tin of worms. "Gluten Sensitivity" is the name of a large umbrella that covers a wide range of objects. Celiac disease falls under this umbrella. However, as we read, celiac disease as currently diagnosed refers only to damage to the small intestine, also called gluten-sensitive enteropathy. Gluten can cause damage to many other parts of the body, not just the gastrointestinal system Gluten-free neuropathy is seen as the most common. However, gluten can affect many other body systems. A study c...

Gluten Free - Wrong Or Right Decision? Or is it Just Personal?

Image
I think gluten is an interesting topic because it is mixed so talk and you can support a lot of conversations in it. I have read on a few websites that the wheat we eat today is made bioengineered to contain more than 90% gluten than wheat from 100 years ago. And the interesting thing about this claim is that wheat is a new addition to a human diet which may be the reason why some people have a hard time digesting wheat and gluten products. So combining the wheat season was bred with an increased amount of gluten and wheat currently for mass consumption, I can’t help but wonder how our digestive system changes to suit history and trade. However, others have a different opinion. This morning I read an article about gluten deficiency and wheat, which asked its readers a question: why would anyone decide to accept this diet when it is not medically necessary. It also pointed out that gluten-free foods and wheat can be dangerous because wheat is an important source of vitamins, minerals, a...

Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, barley, spelling, and triticale. They are prolamines that cause damage to the digestive system. Small hair-like structures called villi are in the lining of the small intestine. It helps to digest the nutrients in your diet.
